THE LITTLE CATECHISM ON CONFESSION

The
Little Catechism on Confession with Imprimatur
by Bishop Bruskewitz
This small
booklet, printed in 1996 by the Catholic Bishop
of Lincoln, Nebraska (USA) begins with the
question "Does God love me?" and concludes that
"God's love defies all human logic and reason."
Indeed, God loves us enough to create us even
knowing that we often turn away from His Love.
The next
section discusses sin and its terrible impact in
our lives. We have hope, however, because of
Christ's atoning sacrifice. Personal, venial,
mortal, and capital sins are defined and
explanations given.
The basis
of confession in the teachings of Christ's leads
naturally into how to make a good confession,
how frequently one should confess, and the grace
received through acts of penance and contrition
for sin.
The booklet
also provides a thorough examination of
conscience by reviewing the Ten Commandments and
the Precepts of the Church and then describes
how to go to confession. Several prayers for
confession and other prayers round out this
booklet.
The
Little Catechism on Confession
has received the imprimatur from Most Reverend
Fabian W. Bruskewitz, Bishop of Lincoln,
November 15, 1996.
